Robert was a staff arranger/composer for CBS television and Columbia Records. As their musical director, Mersey worked up vocal arrangements for Frankie Avalon, Jimmy Clanton, Stubby Kaye, and produced some of the label's most successful 1960s vocal albums, including Barbra Streisand's "My Name is Barbra" and Andy Williams' "Moon River".
