Listen to the song.

From the New York Times: "Buckwheat, appropriately enough, is a rock group that comes to New York from Oklahoma via California. In their set at the Gaslight at the Co Go Tuesday night, they were a classic illustration of some of the problems confronting just‐arriving new act.

First, the focus of the group clearly falls on the Bonnie Bramlett and Janis Joplin‐styled singing of Debbie Campbell. In an obvious attempt to avoid the hazards of the star‐singer‐with‐back‐up‐band syndrome, that afflicted groups like Big Brother and the Holding Company, Buckwheat spreads the spotlight around expeditiously, with, some of the glow falling on Bucky Smotherman, singer keyboardist, and some on Mark Durham, violinist.

Yet the fact is that Miss Campbell is far and away the group's greatest asset and it is only when she is singing that Buckwheat really demands one's attention. Other than that, they area good, solid happy rock band, pleasant but hardly spectacular."
