In 1980, Canada helped six Americans escape from Iran when students stormed the US Embassy, precipitating the Iran Hostage Crisis. That same year, Michigan born Shelley Looney, then seven years old, wrote a letter of thanks to Canada. That letter was transcribed and released as a spoken word single by Mercury Records. Although only clocking in at 1.5 minutes the single spent 2 weeks at #99 on the Cashbox Top 100.
