Listen to the song.

NEVER AN EVERYDAY THING was originally written by Pete Shelley and Ben Finden for an Irish band called Grannies. Their version was released on Deram in 1968. It got a lot of airplay but failed to chart.

In 1969, NEVER AN EVERDAY ended up on the B side of GIVE YOURSELF A TICKET, recorded by Roeks Family, a Dutch band.

In 1970, it was recorded by a English singer called John Bradford (who took the name Eli Bonaparte.)
