Founded in 1970, Jay-Bar-Kay was the creation of Ken Anderson, who had recorded for Hi-Hat and MacGregor and conducted square dance workshops; and John Hendron, a caller.
The label were located in Newtonville, a suburb of Albany, New York. And most releases were recorded at Vibra-Sound Studios in Schenectady. Jay-Bar-Kay operated into the 1980s.
